From May 18 to 29, 2026, a CLAC-SFIC delegation from Yazhou Bay National Laboratory visited Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru for sub-center inaugurations, MOU signings, and field research. Led by Vice Director Yang Weicai, the 9-member team included Tian Zhixi, Zhou Jianmin, Nian Hai, and Xiao Yutao.

Arriving in Colombia on May 18, the delegation visited CIAT (signing an MOU) and toured AGROSAVIA’s Palmira and La Libertad centers and Fenalce on May 19–20, reaching consensus on acid-aluminum tolerant soybean breeding, and Fusarium and citrus greening disease control. On May 21, the Colombia Sub-Center was inaugurated at AGROSAVIA, attended by China’s Ambassador to Colombia and Colombia’s Acting Education Minister. The China-Colombia Sustainable Food Innovation Forum was held concurrently with over 100 participants.

On May 22, the delegation traveled to Ecuador and inaugurated the Ecuador Sub-Center at INIAP, attended by Ecuador’s Agriculture Secretary. An MOU was signed with ESPAM University on May 23.

From May 24 to 27, the delegation visited INIA headquarters, La Molina Center, Tarapoto Station, and UNALM in Peru. INIA agreed to establish a Peru Sub-Center. CLAC-SFIC now operates a five-country sub-center network across Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, and Ecuador.
