INIAP is Ecuador’s national institution for agricultural research. It operates a network of experimental stations across the country’s diverse ecological regions, including tropical rainforests, the Andean highlands, and coastal plains. The institute has significant strengths in genetic resource conservation and varietal improvement of highland crops such as quinoa and potato, as well as tropical crops including cocoa and banana.
